Jordan’s King Abdullah II Opens the World Economic Forum

Accompanied by his wife Queen Rania and their eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan opened on Friday the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa at the Dead Sea, 22 May 2015.

The King addressed the audience during the opening session and said that Jordan has a track record of surmounting challenges. “It is a sign of ongoing strength. This is also the message of our ongoing reform process. We view this process as a continuous path forward,” he said, as Petra News Agency reported.

Following his speech, King Abdullah II held several meetings with the WEF participants and heads of delegations. Among those was the Egyptian President and the President of the Republic of Bosnia, as well as senior officials from the region and abroad.

His Majesty had also attended the ceremony hosted to launch the “Jordan Relaunched” campaign which was announced during the WEF for this year. The luncheon was also attended by Queen Rania, Crown Prince Hussein and Jordanian government members.

The current World Economic Forom is the 9th session to be held under the royal patronage in Jordan since the year 2003.
