Queen Máxima and Queen Mathilde Open Exhibition in The Hague

This afternoon, Wednesday May 20, Their Majesties Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians opened an outdoor sculpture exhibition in the Lange Voorhout street in The Hague.

The exhibition, called “Flemish Vormidable Contemporary Sculpture”, shows artworks created by established and emerging Flemish artists and celebrates twenty years of cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and Flanders. The curator of the exhibition is Stef van Bellingen, a Flemish curator and director of the WARP Contemporary Art Platform, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting contemporary art and culture.

In the exhibition are present works that include traditional craft human figures and sculptures that evoke a sensory experience. 35 artists worked for the exhibition, which will last until August 30.

Before the exhibition, Queen Mathilde visited the exposition Art and Culture at Home / Art et Culture à la Maison at the Belgian Embassy in The Hague. Then took place a lunch with the artists.

Queen Máxima and Queen Mathilde wore matching dresses from the Belgian fashion house Natan. The Dutch Queen worn an orange dress coat with a matching hat while the Belgian Queen worn a blue and orange dress with a blue turban.
