Prince Laurent Attends Ceremony Honouring Dead Homeless
This morning, Belgium’s Prince Laurent was present at a ceremony at the Brussels Town Hall that honours the homeless people who die in the nation’s capital region each year.
“Les morts de la rue” (“The Dead of the Street”) is now in its tenth year, and aims to try help improve the living conditions of homeless people by improving access to housing within Brussels. During the ceremony, a poem about the symbolism of light was read aloud, as were the names and ages of the 46 homeless people who died in 2014.
Prince Laurent was joined by representatives of the Christian, Islamic and Judaic communities in Belgium for the event.
