Crown Princess Mary Visits Foundation Projects in Aalborg

The Crown Princess of Denmark was in Aalborg today, where she visited two projects organised by The Mary Foundation.

She first launched the ‘Advice for Life’ program at the Mødrehjælpen House, a program that provides “free economic, legal and social counselling to women that have been subjected to domestic violence”. Princess Mary, accompanied by The Mary Foundation’s director Helle Østergaard, met with the House’s staff and with women who have already been helped by the organisation.

Later in the afternoon, Mary headed over to the AaB Football Club to participate in a training session arranged by the Klubfidusen well-being program, which aims to eliminate bullying in Danish football clubs. The rain did not stop the Crown Princess from kicking a ball around with the children, taking part in drills and exercises.

Princess Mary spoke with the media before heading back to Copenhagen, saying that her husband and children are “very fond” of football and nine-year-old Prince Christian, who received a personalised jersey from the football club, “is obsessed” with the sport.

“Admittedly, I haven’t much experience with the game. But it was a delight to visit AaB. I have great respect for the club which has room for both amateurs and professionals,” she also said, laughing away the fact everyone got quite wet because of the weather.
