Day Three in New Zealand For Prince Harry

Prince Harry spent half of his third day in New Zealand still on Stewart Island, where he was on the receiving end of some thoughtful questions from the 24 students at Halfmoon Bay School.

After participating in a German class via Skype (because of their remoteness, part of the school’s curriculum is completed online with other schools in remote parts of the country) and helping out with some crown making, Harry found himself in the hot seat.

Some questions were easy to answer, “spaghetti Bolognese” is his favourite food, while others required a little more thought on the Prince’s behalf.

“That’s a very good question, because he’s there to support her and rather than bearing the responsibility 50-50, he would prefer to support her and be there for the rest of her life,” Harry replied to the student who asked why his grandfather wasn’t the King.

After a few songs from the school band and a group photo, it was time for Harry to bid farewell to the students, and to Stewart Island. He will be in Christchurch tomorrow.

Later in the day, an exclusive interview Prince Harry gave to Sky News reporter Rhiannon Mills was released. In the interview, the Prince spoke of his desire to have children of his own, and also of the crossroads he was at in selecting a new career once he officially leaves the army next month.

“There come times when you think now is the time to settle down, or now is not, whatever way it is, but I don’t think you can force these things it will happen when it’s going to happen. Of course, I would love to have kids right now, but there’s a process that one has to go through…It would be great to have someone else next to me to share the pressure. But, you know, time will come and whatever happens, happens,” he said of his current love life.

He also said that he hopes “the people back home…know that they can trust me, that I’m making the right decision and that whatever it is, it will be something that means I can give something back,” when he spoke of what he will be doing in the future.
