King Philippe Marks VE Day 70th Anniversary
The King of the Belgians today was present at a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).
King Philippe laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which sits at base of the Congress Column in Brussels.
V-E Day was the day the Allied Forces officially accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany’s armed forces in 1945. It marked the end of the Second World War in Europe.
