Saudi King Appoints New Crown Prince and Deputy Crown Prince
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree with with changes in his cabinet.
The changes are accepting of the resignation of his half brother, 69 year old Crown Prince Murqin. The Crown Prince post is now given to Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who was previously the deputy Crown Prince and Minister of the Interior.
King Salman has named his son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as deputy Crown Prince. Prince Mohammed, who is in his mid 30s, is currently Defence Minister and royal court chief.
King Salman has also accepted the resignation of Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal. He has been foreign minister since 1975. He stepped down due to health issues.
