The Orange-Nassaus have celebrated Koningsdag, the celebration of the monarch’s birthday, in the city of Dordrecht today.

Some 25,000 people turned out in the city to attend the celebrations and catch a glimpse of the Royal Family, who arrived by water taxi along the canal. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were joined by their three daughters (Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane), Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, Prince Maurits and Princess Marilène, Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette, and Prince Pieter-Christiaan and Princess Anita (the youngest van Vollenhoven brother, Prince Floris, and his wife did not attend due to the death of Princess Aimée’s father last week).

During their walkabout through the areas where activities and stalls had been set up, Queen Máxima was presented with a violin named after Princess Amalia by Lucienne van der Lans, who spent five months crafting the piece. The family delighted in shaking hands with the crowd and stopped plenty of times to take photos.

The celebrations ended with a show at the Statenplein, where the Children for Children song ‘Energy’ had the young Princesses singing along. In his speech, King Willem-Alexander told the crowd that Dordrecht “had set the bar high” in putting together this year’s Koningsdag.

Queen Máxima stood out from the crowd in a pink silk Natan dress, paired with a darker pink cape from Zara and matching Fabienne Delvinge hat with an up-turned brim made of parabuntal.

Princess Laurentien selected a cream and white lamé scalloped dress from Missoni underneath an orange (what else!) Natan cardigan.

Princess Marilène wore an ensemble from British designer Ted Baker, a matching floral dress and coat in mint green.

Princess Anita also went floral, but a custom piece from OSO Couture. It was matched with a white cropped cardigan and low-heeled pumps.

Princess Annette chose a dark green lace dress and matching bolero with a rounded neckline and gemstone detailing.
