King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima Launch “King Games”

Today, Friday April 24, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were present at the launch of the “King Games” in Leiden. The event started in the morning when the Royal Couple had breakfast with nearly 8000 students coming from 30 schools.

After the breakfast there was the performance of the ‘Kinderen voor kinderen’ choir that sang the song “Energie” made for the event. Then, all the children went outside where they began their workout at the presence of the King and the Queen.

During an interview with nos.nl, the Royal Couple talked about their breakfast and workout habits. The King said that he takes milk for breakfast and does exercise three, four times a week on the treadmill. The Queen takes coffee, yougurt and orange juice for breakfast and she does long walks, plays tennis or goes swimming.

The “King Games” are organized by Krajicek Foundation and Cruyff Foundation and took place for the first time in 2013 as part of the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander. They are a sporty initiative for all primary school students in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The purpose of the “King Games” is to promote a healthy and sporting society.
