Joachim, Marie and Children Visit Aalborg Zoo
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie took their two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena, to Aalborg Zoo today to help celebrate the zoo’s 80th anniversary.
The family were accompanied by the director of the zoo, Henrik Vester Johansen, and the Mayor of Aalborg, Thomas Kastrup Larsen, for their visit, which included a show at the Zoofari Scene, where animals the zoo trains demonstrate their skills. Little Henrik and Athena were able to see Rosa the pig, Solveig the goat and Ussie and Jenny the horses.
Later, it was time for a tour of the zoo’s gardens. Henrik and Athena watched on as Sumatran tigers and elephants enjoyed feeding time, while their father got to hold a ferret. Princess Athena ensured that her grey stuffed bear stayed within her reach at all times.
Prince Joachim is the patron of Aalborg Zoo, which was first opened in 1935. He was presented with a copy of the book Aalborg Zoo in 80 Years – From Mengerie to Dissemination and Research during the visit.
