Dutch Working Visit to Germany – Day 2

The second and last day of the working visit started on Friday March 20 at the Fish Auction Hall of Hamburg where King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attended a meeting with German and Dutch businessmen about the possibilities of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel in shipping. Then the Royal Couple made a tour of the LNG Hybrid Barge project where LNG is converted into electricity.

After, the King and the Queen visited the “Joop van den Ende Academy”, a school founded by Dutch musical, theater and film producer Joop van den Ende.  At their arrival to the school, the Royal Couple was welcomed by the producer and his wife Janine and attended a dance and singing lessons for students of the Academy.

Then King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima went to an interactive workshop on the theme “Intelligent urban mobility” where Dutch and German policy makers, institutions, companies and universities talked about new forms of public transport on land and water. It was showed the “Project Hamburg in 2030”, a presentation that shows the city in the future with a most sustainable traffic and new forms of public transport on both water and land.

The last event of the visit was a lunch in the Town Hall of Hamburg with the Mayor of the city, Olaf Scholz. They signed the Golden Book of Hamburg.

During the visit at the Fish Auction Hall, the King and the Queen watched the solar eclipse wearing protective glasses.

In the working visit, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were accompanied by Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development.
