Duke of Edinburgh Presents New RAF Squadron Standard
The Duke of Edinburgh was today West London, where he presented a Royal Air Force squadron with their new standard.
The No. 32 (The Royal) Squadron received their new standard at their base, RAF Northolt. Prince Philip, who is the Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Northolt, inspected a guard of sixty servicemen from the squadron. He wore the ceremonial dress of the Royal Air Force for the presentation.
“It is fitting that 32 (The Royal) Squadron receives its new Standard in March 2015, the month that RAF Northolt celebrates 100 years as an active military airfield,” the Station Commander of the base, Group Captain Andy Bacon ADC, told the press. The squadron was formed in 1916 and served in both World Wars. It has been the VIP transportation service since 1969.
