The Swedish Royal Family tonight attended the first representation dinner of the year at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia led their three children in greeting the 120 guests in the White Sea ballroom of the Palace. The guest list was made up of members of the Swedish parliament and government, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as individuals who have contributed to society through science, business, sport or culture. Among the guests of this dinner was Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA.

Once all the guests had met the royals, it was on to Karl XI’s Gallery for dinner. The four-course meal consisted of butter baked Norwegian lobster, fish from the Hjälmaren served with truffle butter and vegetables, roast deer and a lemon mousse with raspberry sorbet.

The royal ladies were decked out in finery from the jewel vaults – Queen Silvia in the Connaught Diamond Tiara, Crown Princess Victoria wore the Six Buttons Tiara, and Princess Madeleine her aquamarine tiara.
