Dutch New Year’s Receptions
On January 13 and 14, the Dutch Royal Family attended the Annual New Year’s Receptions.
The first reception took place on Tuesday at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Along with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven were present. The guests of the reception were representatives of Dutch society, Ministers, political leaders and members of organizations dedicated to helping working people.
In his speech, the King said “The year 2015 did not start well,” referencing the terrorist attacks in Paris on January 7-8. The King also added that “our thoughts are with the terrorist attacks in Paris last week. A direct attack on the freedom that affects us all. An attack also on the Jewish community.”
He ended the speech wishing “prosperity, solidarity and happiness in your personal life. And in your work much confidence, creativity and success!”
On Wednesday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, accompanied again by Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, held a reception to the members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations at the Royal Palace.
