Duchess of Cambridge Names New Art Room in London

The Duchess of Cambridge was today in London to officially name the new art room at Barlby Primary School in West London.

She was joined by British cross-dressing artist Grayson Perry for the event, which Catherine was originally scheduled to attend in October last year before her severe morning sickness forced her to cancel a number of engagements.

Arriving in the early afternoon, the Duchess first stopped by the school hall where the students performed a rendition of Lean on Me for her and met with students and teaching staff before she headed over to the new art facility – The Clore Art Room – where she spoke with some students and was shown the artworks they had made. The room has been named after a supporter of The Art Room since 2005, the Clore Duffield Foundation.

The Art Room is one of the first patronages that was announced for Catherine, back in January 2012. The charity’s purpose is to provide facilities where children can use their creativity to develop and increase their self-confidence, self-esteem and independence.
