Belgian Royals Pay Respects to Queen Fabiola

Members of the Belgian Royal Family have paid their respects to the late Queen Fabiola at the Royal Palace of Brussels.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, King Albert and Queen Paola, Prince Laurent, and Princess Astrid and Archduke Lorenz were among the family members to view the late Dowager Queen’s body where it lies in the Palace’s Great Hall in a simple light oak coffin.

Others present were Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria and Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein, born Princess of Luxembourg and nieces of Queen Fabiola and her husband King Baudouin. Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein accompanied his wife.

Queen Fabiola passed away last Friday, aged 86. Her funeral will be held this coming Friday in Brussels. Members of the public will be allowed to pay their respects to the late Queen as she lies in state in the Royal Palace tomorrow and Thursday.
