Princess Marie Visits Saudi Arabia With Danish University
In conjunction with her long-standing partnership with the Syddansk Universitet, Princess Marie yesterday paid a visit to Saudi Arabia, where she visited the Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University (PNU).
The University, which is located on the outskirts of the Saudi capital Riyadh, is the largest women’s university in the world. The Syddansk Universitet has ‘exported’ two undergraduate programs based on Danish concepts to PNU, where staff from Denmark teach 216 students in the field of public health. They are the first Danish university to do so.
Princess Marie was accompanied by a delegation from the university, and was shown around the state of the art PNU campus, which offers tertiary education to over 52,000 students. During her tour, Marie met with dental students and observed them practising on dummies.
The Princess also took part in a lecture, where she delivered a speech focusing the benefits for both parties of education cooperation: an exchange of knowledge, the strengthening of cultural dialogue, and creating new opportunities for joint research projects.
