Prince Moulay Rachid And Oum Kalthum’s Wedding

The brother of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Prince Moulay Rachid, married Oum Kalthum in a magical ceremony which took place over a few days at the Rabat Royal Palace.

On Thursday November 13, they celebrated the first ceremony which is called the Henna Day. The henna day is a henna ritual marked by presenting the Hdya to Prince Moulay Rachid’s spouse. The next day they celebrated the second ceremony which is called the Al Barza. During which Prince Moulay Rachid and Oum Keltoum are officially shown as a couple to their families and distinguished guests. During the Barza ceremony the bride and the groom are installed to be seen and admired by the entire audience.

The bride wore a white caftan and a new diamond and emerald tiara. After the ceremony, His Majesty offered a dinner in honor of the guests attending the wedding ceremony at the Royal palace. The bride and the groom were accompanied by different members from the Royal Family, HH Sheikha Mozah of Qatar and the former French First Lady, Bernadette Chirac.

Oum Kalthum Boufarès received the title of Lalla after the marriage.

Lalla Oum Kalthum was born on February 3, 1987. She is the daughter of Mamoun Boufares who was the governor of Marrakech when King Mohammed VI ascended the throne in July 1999 and maternal granddaughter of Lalla Khadija (a cousin of King Mohammed V).
