Cambridges Attend 2014 Royal Variety Performance
Continuing with a tradition started in 1912 by King George V, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last night attended this year’s Royal Variety Performance at London Palladium Theatre.
Upon arriving at the theatre, the couple were greeted by Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber and his wife Madeleine. Once inside, William and Catherine spoke briefly with the evening’s acts, including One Direction, Bette Midler, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran.
Catherine wore a black lace Diane von Furstenberg evening gown, which featured three quarter-length sleeves and a v-shaped back. She paired the dress with a pair of blue topaz hoop earrings.
The show is organised to benefit the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund, of which Queen Elizabeth II is patron. The Performance became an annual event in 1921, with only the years of World War Two not seeing the event held.
