Spanish Introductory Visit to Luxembourg
The King and Queen of Spain continued with their introductory visits today, meeting with the Grand Ducal Couple in Luxembourg.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia were greeted at Luxembourg’s Findel Airport by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, before heading to the Grand Ducal Palace for an inspection of the guard with Grand Duke Henri. Despite the grey skies, the two parties seemed very happy to be in each other’s company, and the visiting monarchs took the time to greet the small crowd which had gathered to see them (Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume even took a photo of the Spanish Queen with a group of Spanish tourists).
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa hosted a private lunch inside the palace for their visitors, where the official party posed for photographs.
Queen Letizia wore a recycled cream and blue-grey printed Felipe Varela knee-length dress, while the Grand Duchess donned an ombre-style lilac, light blue and navy coat and matching dress. Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie kept it simple in a moss-green long-sleeved dress.
In the afternoon, the King and Queen had meetings with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel; the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mars Di Bartoloemo, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean Asselborn. For the visit, the pair were accompanied by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr José Manuel García-Margallo.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia will tomorrow pay a similar visit to Belgium.
