The King of Thailand has had successful gallbladder removal surgery and is in a stable post-operative condition, the Thai Royal Court confirmed today.

“This morning his general health conditions have improved. His heart rate has lowered, his blood pressure is normal and his body temperature has lowered,” the statement read, in reference to the reasons stated for his admittance to the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok on Friday: fever and irregular blood pressure.

Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world’s longest reigning monarch, has had a number of health issues in the past several years. The King had only been released from hospital in September after spending five weeks there for stomach inflammation.
