Belgian National Day

The Belgian Royal Family celebrated National Day this past days.

The celebrations started on Sunday July 20 when King Philippe and Queen Mathilde along with Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire attended the concert “Prelude to National Day” which took plac at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels hosted by the Queen Elizabeth and the National Orchestra of Belgium. Later on, the King and the Queen were present at the National Bal in the Marolles, Place du Jeu de Balle in Brussels. Around 15,000 people were present.

On Monday July 21, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended the traditional Te Deum at the Saint Michael and St Gudula Cathedral in Brussels. Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore were present. Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended the Te Deum mass in Namur while Prince Laurent and Princess Claire were in Bruges.

In the afternoon, the traditional military parade on the Place des Palais took place in Brussels. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were greeted upon arrival at the parade by President of the Senate Sabine de Bethune, president of the House of Representatives Patrick Dewael, Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and the Minister of the Interior Milquet and the Minister of Defence Pieter De Crem. The King Philippe inspected the troops. The King and Queen’s four children, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire attended the parade.

Later King Philippe and Queen Mathilde went to the Parc of Bruxelles to visit the stends of the “Fete au Park”. In the evening King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended the fireworks display in the city center in Brussels. Mathilde wore a white sleeveless dress with a garden print on the hem of dress. Her outfit was matched with orange heels.
