Engagement of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist

The Swedish Royal Court has just announced the engagement of Prince Carl Philip, only son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, to Ms Sofia Hellqvist.

The news was revealed in a press conference at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, just after 17:00 local time. The newly engagement couple, as well as the King and Queen, posed for  photographs in the palace gardens and answered a few questions from the media. In the evening, the couple and their respective parents shared a dinner at Drottningholm Palace.

Prince Carl Philip and Ms Hellqvist have been dating since 2010.
