Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip Open Heathrow’s Terminal Two
On June 23, the Queen and Prince Philip opened Terminal Two at Heathrow Airport in London, England. The Terminal has been named ‘The Queen’s Terminal’ in her honour.
After she had cut the ribbon, The Queen was shown around the new terminal before catching the plane to Belfast to begin her three day tour of Northern Ireland.
During the visit, Prince Philip pulled another of his infamous gaffes as he said, “Provided you don’t travel in something called economy class, which sounds ghastly,” after he had said, “If you travel as much as we do, you appreciate the improvements in aircraft design of less noise and more comfort.”
The first flight on the terminal was a United Airlines flight from Chicago. Other airlines that will join the new terminal are Egyptair, Ethiopian, SAS, TAP Portugal and SWISS.
