On his way back home, Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud paid a quick visit to the Egyptian capital of Cairo, where he met with the newly elected President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

According to the Saudi Royal Court and press reports, the King’s visit aimed to confirm Saudi Arabia’s strong support for Eygpt and its new government. The talks also covered the importance of the two nations working together to address regional challenges. The talks lasted for 30 minutes and were held inside King Abdullah’s plane, which was on the ground of Cairo International Airport late Friday.

King Abdullah, who is 90 years old, was on a private holiday in Morocco since May. Due to his advanced age and frail health, he rarely travels for official visits. His younger brother, Crown Prince Salman, deputizes for him.
