Small Miracles: The Story of the Princess Alia Foundation

Yesterday Princess Alia bint Al Hussein, the eldest daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan, and Sharifa Sarra Ghazi presented the book Small Miracles, The Story of the Princess Alia Foundation in Amman.

Other members of the Royal Family attended the presentation: Prince Asem bin Nayef with his wife, Princess Sanaa, and Princess Iman bint Al Hussein (who collaborates with the Foundation) and her husband, Zaid Mirza.

The Foundation was established in 2009 to address issues relating to human and animal welfare and the environment. Princess Alia created it when Lyn White, an animal cruelty investigator, suggested the need for an organisation to alleviate and prevent the appalling abuse of animals she was daily witness to, Princess Alia immediately embraced it and saw a wider mandate to include human needs, troubled youth and public health, as well addressing animal welfare issues.

Four years later, the Foundation is staffed by volunteers and dependent on finance and support from kindly individuals and organizations within Jordan and around the world, its reputation and reach continue to grow.

Princess Alia published her first book Royal Heritage: The Story of Jordan’s Arab Horses in 2013. She is the President of the Jordanian Equestrian Federation and the director of the Royal Stables of Jordan.
