Queen Margrethe II of Denmark last night hosted a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace for members of the Danish parliament.

The Queen, Prince Henrik, the Crown Prince Couple, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Princess Benedikte each greeted the attendees – members of the parliament, the government and the Danish members of the European Parliament – before proceeding into the Great Hall for the banquet. On the menu was grilled tuna and fish terrine with eggs mimosa, pepper sauce tenderloin with pommes Anna and pumpkin, and a dessert of apple fromage. As usual, wine was provided from the Prince Consort’s vineyard in Cahors.

During the banquet, music was provided by the Royal Life Guards, and the evening’s main entertainment was a performance by Big City Brains.

Princess Marie was the member of the royal family who gained most attention for the evening, as she debuted a new tiara – the Flora Danica tiara created for her by Flora Danica a few years ago.

The Royal Family host a parliamentary dinner once during each parliamentary period, approximately once every four years.
