Princess Alexandra, The Hon. Lady Ogilvy’s 77th Birthday
Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy celebrated her 77th birthday on Christmas Day 2013.
Princess Alexandra was born on Christmas Day 1936 at No. 3 Belgrave Square in London, England and is the only daughter and second eldest child of Prince George, Duke of Kent and his wife, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. She is also a granddaughter of King George V and Queen Mary. She has two brothers; Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (born in 1935) and Prince Michael of Kent (born in 1942). At the time of her birth, she held the title of Princess Alexandra of Kent.
Princess Alexandra was christened on 9 February 1937 at Buckingham Palace and her godparents are King George VI, Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother), Queen Maud of Norway, Princess Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, Princess Olga of Yugoslavia, Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom, Alexander Cambridge, 1st Earl of Athlone and Karl Theodor of Toerring-Jettenbach. Her full name is Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel.
On 24 April 1963, Princess Alexandra married The Honourable Angus Ogilvy, the second eldest son of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie and his wife, Lady Alexandra Coke. They have two children; James Ogilvy (born in 1964 – in 1988 he married Julia Rawlinson and they have two children; Flora and Alexander) and Marina Ogilvy (born in 1966 – in 1990 she married Paul Mowatt [whom she divorced in 1997] and they have two children; Zenouska (born in 1990) and Christian (born in 1993).
