Crown Princess Mary Visits Herning
Crown Princess Mary yesterday was in the city of Herning, where she visited the Lind Care and Activity Centre and attended the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships.
First visiting the care centre, the Crown Princess had an early afternoon tea with 125 residents and staff of the centre. She was given a tour of the facility, seeing the woodwork room, the gym and the residential facilities. The care centre has implemented the use of modern welfare technology to provide a better environment for its residents.
Later that afternoon, Mary headed over to the Jyske Banke Boxen for the first day of the European Short Course Swimming Championships. Major cheers went up around the venue when the Danish female 4x50m freestyle relay team broke the world record to take out the gold medal.
The Crown Princess presented the medals for that event – Sweden took home silver, Russia bronze – and then posed with the winning Danes on the medal podium afterwards.
