King Philippe and Queen Mathilde in Liege

On Friday October 11th, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Liege.

The Royal Couple, who arrived in Liege at 11 o’clock, were received at the Provincial Palace by the Liege Governor Michel Foret and the and Mayor Willy Demeyer. After signing the Guest Book, the King and the Queen had a meeting with a delegation of workers of ArcelorMittal and the Walloon Minister of Economy Jean-Claude Marcourt.

The the Royal Couple visited the workshop association “La Lumiere”. This association, founded in 1919, was created to help people affected by visual impairment. The purpose of “La Lumiere” is to integrate blind people.

At lunchtime the King and the Queen attended a working lunch at the Provincial Palace about the program around supra-municipal cooperation and regional economic revival. In the early afternoon the Royal Couple made a walk through Place Saint-Lambert to meet the crowd.

Before the end of the visit, the King and the Queen attended a ceremony at the City Hall, where they met representatives of various associations.
