King Philippe and Queen Mathilde in Hasselt
On Tuesday September 24th, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Hasselt in the Province of Limbourg.
The Royal Couple arrived at 11 o’clock and were welcomed by Governor Herman Reynders in the Provincial House where they signed the Golden Book. After being presented to deputies, mayors and 120 invited guests, the King and the Queen met a delegation of Ford workers who are losing their job following the closure of the factory who is located in Genk.
Then King Philippe and Queen Mathilde went to the University of Hasselt in the “Old Jail” where they were welcomed by students of Law and Medicine. The Royal Couple talked with the President and Vice President of the Student Associations. The students appointed King Philippe as honorary member of “Miezerik Student Association”.
After a working lunch at the residence of the Governor, the King and the Queen walked through the High Street and the Market Square to greet the public who were gathered to meet the Royal Couple.
