Queen Sofia’s Visit To New York
Queen Sofia of Spain paid a short visit to to New York City between September 9th and 10th.
The ever popular Queen of Spain met with Mr Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations at the UN HQ in New York City where they discussed a number of important issues, including the rights of disabled people.
Later that day, Queen Sofia accepted the Franklin D. Roosevelt International Disability Rights Award on behalf of Spain.
Queen Sofia attended the US Open Tennis final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. A victorious Nadal met with the Queen. The following morning Queen Sofia presided over the breakfast meeting “Water and Cooperation: Spain’s commitment to the Millennium Development Goals” at the UN HQ in New York City.
