King Constantine Released from Hospital with UTI
The Greek Royal House has confirmed that King Constantine II had been admitted to, and released from, a hospital in Athens after falling ill earlier this week.
“His Majesty King Constantine was treated for infection of the urinary tract at the beginning of the week and was released from Biokliniki Clinic earlier today,” a statement posted on the family’s website yesterday stated.
According to media reports, the 73-year-old fainted on Monday at his holiday home in Porto Cheli and was taken to hospital from there. He apparently had intense pain prior to fainting.
The former King of Greece, who reigned between 1964 and 1973, had heart surgery in 2009 and was seen with a cane at the funeral of Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse last month.
