The Dutch Government Information Service (RVD) has just announced that Prince Friso, the second son of Princess Beatrix, has left the Wellington Hospital in London and has been returned to the Netherlands.

According to the statement, the Prince – who remains in a “state of minimal consciousness” – and his family (Princess Mabel, Countess Luana and Countess Zaria) will spend the summer in the Netherlands. He is currently at Huis ten Bosch Palace. The Prince will be cared for by a medical team led by Professor Jan van Gijn and Doctor Michael Cooper.

Hospital treatment is no longer necessary.

Prince Friso has been in a state of minimal consciousness since February 2012, when he was involved in a skiing accident in Lech, Austria and was buried deep under snow for an estimated 25 minutes.
