Spanish Royals Preside over Day of the Armed Forces

Madrid – June 1st, 2013

Their Majesties The King and Queen were accompanied by the Prince and Princess of Asturias to preside over the Day of the Armed Forces ceremony in Madrid on Saturday June 1st.

This very solemn ceremony is a tribute to all fallen soldiers on Armed Forces Day and this year took place on the Plaza de la Lealtad in Madrid. The Plaza de la Lealtad also houses the Spanish War Memorial.

Following the ceremony the King, Queen and Prince and Princess of Asturias later hosted a luncheon at the Palacio de Zarzuela for the Defense and Interior ministers, heads of staff of the Armed Forces and the Director General of the Civil Guard.
