Queen Elizabeth II Visits Woolwich
London – May 31st, 2013
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich Barracks in London on Friday May 31st. The 87 year old British monarch was dressed in mint green and was presented with a posy upon her arrival at the barracks.
Her Majesty later reviewed a Gun Team display at the riding school within Woolwich Barracks. The Queen also presented Afghanistan operational medals to two members of the troop who have recently returned from a tour of Afghanistan.
The visit was seen as poignant to many given the brutal murder of British soldier, Drummer Lee Rigby, last week in Woolwich, who was based at the barracks. The visit by the Queen had been organised long before the attack on the soldier.
