Jordan’s King Abdullah II Opens WEF 2013
King Abdullah II opened on Saturday the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa which was held at the King Hussein Convention Center, in the Dead Sea.
The ceremony was attended by the King’s wife, Queen Rania, and their son, Crown Prince Hussein, as well as royal family members, government officials and participants from all over the world.
In his remarks to the audience during the opening ceremony, King Abdullah called for greater efforts to find a solution in Syria to prevent further fragmentation. The King added, on the day which also remarks Jordan’s 67th independence anniversary, “Openness is a strategic choice for Jordan, but regional cooperation is the backbone for sustainable growth throughout the region.”
The WEF on the Middle East and North Africa has regularly taken place in Jordan since 2003, to discuss issues affecting the region’s economy.
