Remembering Princess Antoinette of Monaco
On March 18th, 2011 Princess Antoinette of Monaco, Baroness de Massy, a colourful and long-lived member of Monaco’s Princely Family, passed away aged 90. The Princess was the elder sister of Prince Rainier III and thus an aunt of the current Prince, Albert II.
The Princess was married three times and had three children: Elisabeth-Anne, Christian Louis and Christine-Alix, who sadly died in February 1989.
The Princess, having spent may years estranged from her brother, later became a popular and well-known figure in Monaco and was a keen animal lover. Following the death of Princess Grace, Antoinette attended many of the Princely Family’s official events, often on the arm of her nephew Prince Albert.
Following her death, the Princess was interred at the Chapelle de la Paix in Monaco, where her parents Princess Charlotte and Prince Pierre are also buried.
