Albert II, Prince of Monaco turns 55

Albert II, Prince of Monaco celebrates his 55th birthday on March 14th. The Prince was born in 1958, the only son of the late Rainier III, Prince of Monaco and Princess Grace of Monaco. Following the death of his father in 2005, Albert II suceeded his father to the reigning monarch of the Principality of Monaco and head of the Princely House of Grimaldi.

In July 2011, Albert married the former South African Olympic swimmer, Charlene Wittstock, firstly in a civil ceremony on the 1st of July, and in a lavish Roman Catholic religious wedding ceremony on the 2nd of July.

The Prince has an older sister, Caroline, Princess of Hanover and a younger sister, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco.
