Funeral of Princess Lilian Scheduled for March 16

Following yesterday’s sad announcement that Princess Lilian had passed away peacefully, the Swedish Royal Court today revealed plans for her funeral.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 16th, at the Royal Chapel in the Royal Palace of Stockholm. The service will begin at 13:00, and will be followed by the Princess’s internment into the royal cemetery in Haga Park. Prior to the funeral, members of the public will be able to pay their respects to the late Princess during a lit de parade at the Royal Chapel on Friday March 15th, between 12:00 and 15:00.

King Carl XVI Gustaf released a personal statement on the death of his aunt, calling her a “happy, witty and funny person” who was loved and will be missed by the entire family, “She was always loyal and stood up strongly for the Royal Family and for Sweden. A very dear and beloved member of the family is now gone.”

It was also announced that celebrations to mark Crown Princess Victoria’s name day on March 14th have been cancelled.
