New Portraits Released to Mark Swedish Jubilee
The Swedish Royal Court has released a series of new portraits of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia taken to mark the King’s fortieth year on the throne this coming September.
Two sets – one in civilian attire and one in gala attire – were released of the King and Queen. The civilian series were photographed at the Royal Palace in Louisa Ulrika’s dining room by Alexis Daflos. The gala series were photographed in the upper hall of Drottningholm Palace by Bruno Ehrs.
A special portion of the royal court’s website was also launched to celebrate the anniversary. Kungen40 features information regarding the upcoming county visits that King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia will make in May and August, has an interview with the King and also shows a retrospective of various items from the King’s reign – portraits, stamps and coins.
It is expected that further announcements will be made in the coming months regarding celebrations to take place in September.
King Carl Gustaf became Sweden’s head of state on September 15th, 1973 following the death of his grandfather, King Gustaf VI Adolf.
