Charles and Camilla to visit Jordan, Qatar and Oman
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will pay official visits to Jordan, Qatar and Oman from March 11 to March 19, 2013.
According to the Clarence House’s press release, “the tour will help to strengthen the United Kingdom’s bilateral relations with key partners in the region, relations which are underpinned by the close personal friendships that exist between Their Royal Highnesses and the Royal Families in each country.”
The main focus of the visits will be encouraging support for the UK economy by highlighting the benefits of investing in Britain. It will not be by any means the only topic though: cultural, educational, military, social, inter-faith and environmental issues will also be on the agenda.
The tour will start in Jordan on March 11 and will end in Oman on March. No further information has been released at this point as to how many days Their Royal Highnesses will spend in each country.
The Prince of Wales has been to each of the countries before: he visited Jordan in 1993 and 2004, Qatar in 1986, 1997 and 2007, and Oman in 1986, 1995, 199 and 2003. The Duchess has never been to Jordan and Oman but she did accompany her husband during the 2007 Qatar visit.
