Prince Felipe visits the Dominican Republic

It was back to work for The Prince of Asturias on August 15th after a short holiday on the Balearic Island of Mallorca. The Prince flew to the Dominican Republic to attend the inauguration of the nation’s President-Elect, Danilo Medina Sánchez.
The Prince was there to represent the Spanish Crown, and arrived in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, on Wednesday August 15. The Prince was accompanied by the Ibero-American Secretary General and the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Latin America, all of whom were greeted by the Spanish Ambassador upon arrival.
Prince Felipe later attended meetings with the President-Elect and also the outgoing President, Leonel Fernandez. That evening out President Fernandez hosted a dinner at the Presidential Palace in honour of all foreign dignitaries attending the inauguration.
On Thursday August 16th, the Prince attended the inauguration and swearing-in of the new President. Later that afternoon, the Prince attended a luncheon at the Spanish Embassy for the Spanish community in the Dominican Republic.
