Prince Philip Admitted to Hospital Again
The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to hospital again today. According to Buckingham Palace spokesman, Prince Philip travelled to the Scottish hospital, about 40 miles away from Balmoral where the Duke and the Queen are staying, as a “precautionary measure”.
The Prince appears to be suffering from recurrence of the bladder infection that saw him hospitalised back in June. Prince Philip is likely to remain in hospital for the next few days.
This is the third time in just eight months His Royal Highness has been hospitalised. In June, during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, he was taken ill with a bladder infection, which forced him to miss some of the key Jubilee events, including the Diamond Jubilee Concert and the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral. According to doctors, his hospitalisation had probably been due to the unfortunate weather during the Jubilee Pageant: Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh resolutely stood under torrential rain for several hours until the end of the Pageant. Prince Philip celebrated his 91st birthday just a day after leaving King Edward VIII Hospital in London.
Earlier, the Duke of Edinburgh had been hospitalised just before Christmas: he was flown to Papworth Hospital where he underwent surgery to have a stent inserted in a blocked artery after suffering chest pains.
We wish a speedy recovery to His Royal Highness.
