Don Felipe de Marichalar Turns 14

His Excellency Don Felipe Juan de Marichalar y Borbón celebrates his fourteenth birthday on July 17th.

The eldest son of Infanta Elena of Spain and Don Jaime de Marichalar, he is currently fifth in the line of succession to the Spanish Throne. Don Felipe Juan was named in honour of his uncle, Prince Felipe, and great-grandfather, Infante Juan the Count of Barcelona; but he is often referred to by his Saints name, Froilán, who is the patron saint of Lugo.

Don Felipe was recently in the headlines having accidentally shot himself in the foot whilst on Easter holidays at his father’s family estate. The eldest grandson of Their Majesties was discharged from hospital a few days later with ‘minor injuries’.
