Frederik & Mary in the US – Day 1
After their official visit got off to a delayed start before they’d even left Copenhagen, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary spent the day yesterday in Chicago. The pair kicked off their official visit to the United States with a architectural guided tour of the Windy City. Even though Frederik is on crutches after suffering a broken fibia while on holiday in Switzerland, he didn’t seem to phased as he was shown around Chicago.
This was followed by a visit to Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago, and then an afternoon visit to a Danish Design event showcasing the works of Louis Pulsen, Bang & Olufsen and Georg Jensen (one of Mary’s favourite jewellers).
The day concluded with a private dinner at the Royal Danish Embassy in Chicago.
A video of the day’s events can be found here, from TV2.
The royals will next be seen later today, when Frederik delivers the opening speech at a Climate and Energy Conference. They will also visit a Danish old people’s home in Chicago.
More information and pictures of the visit can be found here.
