Felipe and Letizia attend Spain vs Italy Euro 2012
Gdansk, Poland – June 10th, 2012
Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Asturias flew to Gdansk in Poland yesterday to support the Spanish football team in their opening game against Italy.
The Prince and Princess were accompanied by the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, and were greeted upon their arrival at the Gdansk Arena by the Polish President, First lady and Prime Minister.
To show their support, the Prince wore a red tie, whilst the Princess wore a red top, both of them looked excited throughout the match between the reigning World and European champions and Italy. The Spanish side are commonly referred to as La Roja (The Red), hence the royal couple proudly wearing the colour.
After an engrossing match the game ended in 1-1 draw between the two sides.
In 2010, Felipe and Letizia accompanied Queen Sofia to the World Cup Final in Johannesburg, South Africa to watch Spain defeat the Netherlands 1–0 and win the World Cup. The Prince and Princess of Asturias will remain in Poland until June 11th.
