Emmanuelle de Dampierre Passes Away

Emmanuelle de Dampierre passed away in Rome on May 2nd, 2012.
Born into the Italian nobility on November 8th, 1913, Emmanuelle married Infante Jaime of Spain, Duke of Segovia on March 4th, 1935. The couple had two children: Don Alphonse de Bourbon (1936-1989) and Don Gonzalo de Bourbon (1937-2000). However, their marriage was unhappy and it ended in divorce in 1947.
In 1949, Emmanuelle de Dampierre remarried in Vienna to Antonio Sozzani, the couple later seperated in the late 1960s. In March 1972, her eldest son Don Alphonse de Bourbon, Duke of Cadiz married Doña María del Carmen Martínez-Bordiú y Franco, who was the granddaughter of General Francisco Franco. The couple had two children: Don Francisco de Borbón born in 1972 and Don Luis de Borbón born in 1974.
Her first husband, Infante Jaime, Duke of Segovia died in 1975. In 1982, the marriage of her eldest son ended in divorce and two years later, her eldest grandson was tragically killed following a car-crash in the Pyrnees.
Emmanuelle de Dampierre also outlived both of her sons and died in Rome aged 99.
The funeral of Emmanuelle will take place on May 11th at the church of Notre-Dame-du-Val-de-Grâce in Paris.
