State Visit from Turkey to the Netherlands – Last Day
The last day of the State Visit started on April 19 with a visit to Floriade in Venlo. Floriade is an international exhibition of flowers and gardening.
The Queen, The President of Turkey and his wife were welcomed by Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. They made a tour around Floriade, visited the Netherlands pavilion and President Gül opened the Turkish pavilion, where the President renamed a flower ‘Istanbul Hyacinth’.
Then the President, his wife Hayrunissa and Queen Beatrix had lunch at the Government building in Limburg.
In the afternoon the President opened the exhibition “Different Impressions, Changing Traditions” at the Bonefanten Museum in Maastricht. The exhibition shows a selection from the collection of modern and contemporary art from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, in cooperation with the Republic of Turkey.
After the farewell ceremony at the airport in Maastricht, President Gül and his wife left the Netherlands.
