Swedish Princess Named Estelle

UPDATE 24/02/12 at 06:33: King Carl XVI Gustaf has just announced that the newborn daughter of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel has been named Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary. She has the title Duchess Of Östergötland.

UPDATE 23/02/12 at 08:30: Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and their newborn daughter are now back home at Haga Palace after leaving Karolinska University Hospital half an hour ago.

A photo was released of the parents and newborn infant upon their release from hospital (right).

UPDATE 23/02/12 at 06:50: Bertil Ternert has confirmed that the names of the newborn Princess will be revealed at a cabinet meeting tomorrow, February 24th. The meeting will take place at 11:15am.

It is also believed that Princess Victoria and the newborn will be leaving the Karolinska University Hospital shortly, as a series of police cars and crown cars have assembled outside.

A canon salute will be taking place at 12:00 Swedish time, in approximately ten minutes, to make the birth of the new royal.

23/02/12 at 02:02: Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden are the proud parents of a newborn baby girl.

The infant, second in line for the Swedish throne, was born at 04:26 this morning, February 23rd at the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna. She weighed 3200 grams and was 51 centimetres long.

The baby girl is the first child for Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, who married in June 2010.
